SPEAKER_01Okay, here we are. We are now on the review of Fire Creation. Always stay warm and protected. So remember, survival essentials, this entire not just list, but this process was created over testing and trying and reading, studying all these things about what are the priorities in wilderness survival. And even when I was learning about the herbs, I've mentioned how I would, you know, you have we're learning about them in a bottle and their formulas, and you go to the health food store and you buy them in capsules. But when you have someone that owns a health food store tell you when you're out teaching plants on an herb walk, wow, I didn't know uh that berberine was what's in the Oregon grape root, and yet berberine was being sold in this store, this retail store. So removing constituents from plants, breaking things down, understanding what is the most important when it comes to real wilderness survival. Like when you find yourself lost or stranded, just in some bad predicament circumstances, and you've got to focus more than ever. That's what all this is about. Life. You know, well, you know, uh along the way, sometimes you just gotta stop when you feel lost or stranded. And if you're in a situation where you need first aid, you better attend to it. That's why it is there. Stop. Find a safe place to sit and relax, think calmly, rationally, observe your thoughts, words, feelings, actions, plan a safe and effective course of action. On down the list, too, fire creation. And here we are reviewing this process of always staying warm and protected. It feels good, it just feels good. It's downright, you know, we all want to feel safe. Nothing wrong with being warm and protected, right? And so we talked about the necessity on a wilderness survival basis. Do you need fire? Because if you don't, you can attend yourself to these other priorities of water and shelter and food, and you can get about that with a better energy if you do not need fire. We talked about in that aspect of you know wanting to stay hidden. Sometimes we don't want to be found, okay? And so, you know, times when I don't want to be seen or found, I will not have a fire. You can smell it, you can see it, it attracts for a long time, long, long distance. And so we talked about the location, you know, keeping our fires in a place where it's not going to cause a problem, like catch on to things that are above it, like branches under a tree, uh, where it's not going to spark out and catch stuff on the ground that's around the fire on fire. Yeah, so location, keeping it away from particular uh places that could cause damage to our mother earth or like water sources or things of that way, trying to keep it in a place that it is thoughtful. So location. Keep it safe and small. Techniques. We talked about all these different techniques of making fire. There's so many of them. Bowen's rill was the most fascinating for me because it required more energy, more focus, more discipline, more work than any of the others for me. And along the way, I learned so many things and applied so many of these processes of what I was learning to my everyday life. And so fire making began to take on such a pronounced focus in my life, and that is what I began basing so much about spirit on. The uses, we just talked about that. We've got so many uses for fire. I mentioned that the ultimate for me is just being around the fire with people that I enjoy being around a fire with. You know, there's got to be this emotional content. Sometimes there have been just very, very emotional, straightforward topic matter discussed around a fire that just brings people to tears. I've experienced this so many times, and especially in working with the youth. And then also being around the fire with laughter and and and even the food and just enjoying the company and looking up at the the stars and just the camradery, the feelings, fire making, you know, I call it creation. So yeah, fire making, that's that's that's what we do, but this creation process is absolute. So I'm going to kind of talk about that right now. I I really, really, in learning to create bones real successfully and consistently, realized along the way how I wanted to look at it so I could ensure the process every step. Because there were so many steps. So as I began going about the first step of knowing what I need, what are what are the resources I need to make this fire? To create this kit, this bowl and drill friction fire kit that can get me warm and protected. And as I would get busy looking about because again, think about this. We're out in the wilderness. You've got nothing say. And let's just say that you're in a in somewhat of a desert canyon location. Let's say there is a little stream that's intermittent running by, and there's some cottonwood trees, say. And so I would go about looking for materials. In an environment like that, there would be these like sandstone pieces of rock through the wash. Some of them are quite solid. That is one of the components that can be used. Other pieces of wood, so looking for wood that can function as a component in making fire. So I would need a bow. And the bow, so number one component that I would need in creating this kit. And there's a lot of different ways to go about finding a bow, but basically you want to go about getting something that's about the length of your arm that has come somewhat already, hopefully bow-shaped and easy to work with, durable enough to uh tie a string from one end to the other and be able to be tested under uh pressure and endurance to create this fire. So a bow, number one. We'll get into more details. Then there's the the cordage, the part that you string from one end to the other, number two. Then there's what's called the spindle. That's number three. Then there's like the socket. And that's when I was talking about like a uh a rock out of the wash. But it can be made out of wood as well. So socket number four, and then a hearth, uh fireboard, uh a place in which all the magic begins to happen. And when you combine all of these in a particular way and put yourself into a position and go about maneuvering all of these components as one to create an ember, it requires some time, it requires some discipline, it requires some work. Some work. It's not a comfortable, if you will, way of just hurrying and getting a fire. You know, that's I think why people like lighters and matches and gas and things like that. But when it comes to connecting yourself to Mother Earth and beginning to establish a relationship with her, and a trust that no matter when you're out there, no matter whether it's in a 9,000-foot forest and pines, whether you're, you know, up in aspens on a desert plateau, whether you're down in the canyons, like I was saying, maybe in a desert canyon and wash, like I was explaining, you begin to see how Mother Earth provides the resources to create things that we need. It's to me so amazing, so profound. So this process of making the fire is so, so powerful. So there's a lot to it. So I talked about five components just to get the kit together, and then learning how to put to get the kit together, knowing what position to get into and how it'll go about the process of getting an ember, and then how do you go about taking that ember somewhere? Where are you gonna put that ember? Well, you've got to have all these things prepared in advance. So this preparing and training number one, see, you know, it's gotta happen. You're not always gonna have a positive attitude, you just gotta have a will beyond measure, okay? So in this preparing and training, you know, you're going to get your your material for that ember to go into. I that's sometimes called a tinder bundle, uh, that's you know, like a nest, uh, you know, a place where you can place this beautiful little ember. And then from there, you want to have your where's your fire gonna be? Because if you start about all this and you don't have your fire pit, your fire area already designed, and if you don't already have all of your firewood there, and and not just that, having the actual fire pit prepared with the wood in it so that when that burning ember, that tinder bundle, that nest ignites into a flame, that you with absolute control and willpower, with this flame in your hand, are able to ignite, put this into that tinder bund that I mean the the the tinder wood that you have there and ignite your fire. So you're going way past, see, now think about life. You know, yeah, you want a fire, and yeah, you might go about getting it, but you've got to go way past the fire. You've got to go to the part where you're sitting around it and where you're using it in your mind, so that you already have tons of firewood, so you don't have to interrupt your enjoyment. So work hard initially to get everything that you need set up so that when you get that little ember that is so sacred that you've worked so hard for that if you're not careful, we'll go out. And people who know this, man, you're just going, yes, he knows he knows this, so it's gonna go out, or you're going to have it fall apart in the process of transferring it if you're doing that, or allowing it to burn within the tinder bundle you might already be placed upon, and how to remove it carefully without breaking it apart from the hearthboard, from that fireboard. And then it's like a newborn baby. I mean, it is just absolutely sacred. And this is the most important part is you know, a mother, she knows that this baby's coming, so she has this nesting instinct, see. And so she goes in, she gets the the nursery, the baby room. She wants to get everything ready for this baby. And so we want to have that nest ready for this ember, see. We want to have a place where you can put that ember. And this guy, if you have a lousy nest, you're gonna ruin everything, okay? It will just, it will, it'll allow that ember to not ignite to anything. There is such care in creating this nest, this bed, this place where you're going to place your sacred infant. Before you even blow the breath of life upon it, you have to have all this done. And then you kind of cuddle that ember into this nest in the palms of your hands, and you gently just blow this breath of life upon it, and it begins to glow brighter and brighter until the material that you have placed it within begins to be influenced by it and ignite and turn into flame and then into fire and then into warmth and protection and tools and all these other things. You've got to think so forward about what you want your experience to be in life before you set about getting it. There is some work to it. So, you know, when you're thinking about, I want this family, this home, this career, these things. Think so far forward about what all that looks like so that you know where you're going. Now, this whole idea of fire creation doesn't end there. There's so much to this on both levels in our life. Our spirit is everything. I'm blowing my breath of life on like my my heart, if you will, you know, like if you imagine your heart being like your fire pit. Gotta blow my breath of life upon that so that so that it doesn't go out. I don't want my I don't want cold, I don't want distance, I don't want to keep myself away, you know. I want to be inviting, but sometimes that's a little scary, you know. And so learning how to regulate my fire based upon the kind of social engagements that I feel good about and can tolerate without putting myself into my hell, I'm gonna run out of firewood real soon, kind of a mode, a panic mode, if you will. Follow me, please, in this. This is so important. And so as you begin to see where you're at right now, currently in your life, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and how you can use your thoughts, words, feelings, and actions to alter the result to what you really want. See, what is it you really want? Think forward. What is the result that I want? Oh, you know, I want a fire no matter what, I'm gonna live no matter what. Yes, those are on the basic parts, and you've got to use that drive and that will, okay? And you might be under dire circumstances and you might be working your butt off two jobs, and you might not even be able to afford rent or whatever like that. Who knows what the dire circumstances are of creating fire in your life? But I'm telling you what, don't give up and keep looking forward. You have to keep looking forward and know why you're doing what you're doing so you don't get frustrated and give it up. That's that's that's a hardcore place there. So boom, a breath of life upon my my internal fire, and regulating my fire, my internal fire, so that I have the relationships in a healthy way that I that I enjoy and that people feel good around my fire like, and I feel good around their fires, and and we mingle, and with that we become like one bigger fire, and that actually is attractive in this world today. When you see the bright light figures coming together, and what I'm saying is that we're moving, we're ascending, we are in motion towards higher frequencies that are obtainable only through the conscious thought of a forward thinking, knowing we are eternal. Don't get caught in the 3D linear living of this world. Do not, yes, we are mortal. It's like going and getting a car. I've got a good vehicle here, my wind-filled vehicle here. Hey, but my spirit, well, shake, you know, we're eternal. We go on forever. All right. So we must understand this and tell ourselves this all the time. Just like having to go in to get firewood all the time. It's constant, constant, constant, constant. But get good at it, enjoy it. It's worth it. How bad do you want to have that fire?
SPEAKER_00There we have episode 43 of Survival Essentials. Fire Creation. Always stay warm and protected. The review. What a great episode. And great golden nuggets from Hawk. I love thinking about. How is my fire doing? Do I need to gather more firewood? Is my fire out? If so, what do I need to do to get it going again? It's always a great journey to create a fire from learning within myself and learning from going into the raw wilderness. It's a great feeling.
