Well, so far we've spoken of the first segment under shelter solutions, always stay protected from the harsh elements. We are now talking about location. And so location has to shelter. So when you're thinking about wilderness survival, when you're thinking about where do I want to place myself. In most cases, in a wilderness survival situation, when you find yourself needing to seek shelter, you're hoping to find something right away. You're hoping to spot something. So you're looking, looking, looking, looking. Now, most of the time we're only thinking under the current conditions in which we can see, which we're experiencing. So let's say it's it's a really, really, really hot day and you need shade. So the location of shelter, well, it might be based upon how much sun that you're going to get during that day. Is there somewhere that you can place yourself that would reduce the amount of sunlight? So start looking at where the shadows are. Location. If you're near a river or a water source. Yes, you want to be near a water source always. Water is primary. And shelter sometimes takes a higher priority than water for just a few hours, maybe a few days, if that. Now much of our water sources are contaminated, and the water we drink must be treated in order to be safe, if you will, for human consumption. So we want to protect our water, we want to keep it good. We want to do our best to stay away from water for some other reasons, not just keeping it well, but a lot of the life that is already in the area goes to water. And if you're near that water, you're not really going to see that life as easily as you would if you were a little farther away, because they will change their place of drinking water, these animals, birds, etc. If they catch your sand or sight or any of that. So if you are needing other resources like food or even just in the essence of the aesthetics of this, the beauty of seeing a deer come to the creek to drink, and it's just something that is so beautiful, something we don't get to experience often. So the location, I know I'm going on about this 200 feet from water. But when you think about the the insects as well, and depending upon where you're at, mosquitoes sometimes are closer to the water and other insects, etc. So you just kind of gauge the very best you can. But yeah, you don't want to go too far from water because you need it. And you're going to eventually need fire, which we'll be coming to in our next major section, uh, because you're going to want to purify that water. And for now, as we're finding our location for shelter, we're kind of considering everything. We're we're looking at the terrain. Shelter is extremely important because you want to make sure you're not in a flash flood area. You want to make sure that you're not in a high wind area, you want to make sure that you're somewhat nestled, safe, and in a place that gives you the greatest view. And if indeed you are looking to be found, in other words, if you're in that 72-hour window being lost and stranded, and you are needing to be found, then yes, you want your shelter to be uh all of the things that I've listed already, but you also want to be able to make yourself very visible somehow. So there's a lot to consider. Shelter is when you're looking for a home in real life, you know, and it's interesting because a lot of people are nowadays moving to where they can buy their own house and living in conditions that they'd rather not, so that they can own their own home rather than finding the premier location and then whether the home's already there or not, building it. But when you see a lot of the homes that are being built on the side of mountains, and then the avalanches come, the mudslides come, when you see a lot of homes that are near these flash flood areas, and then they flood out, when you see a lot of the homes that are built in ways that are not scanned previously. In other words, in our real-time world, it's very interesting as to how, uh, in my opinion, stupid it is to build homes in the locations in order for profit, due to the fact that Mother Nature does not care where you place your home. If it's going to rain and there's going to be a flash flood, she's gonna wipe it out, she'll take anything out of her course, just know that. So be aware wherever you're building your shelter, wherever you're making yourself home, wherever you're creating your sanctuary. Now, another thing about shelter is sometimes it's just temporary, but make it good no matter what. Go to the extent to make your shelter, your campsite, you know, it's the beautification, make it nice. You you want to feel comfortable, you want to feel safe, you want to be able to feel that it is yours and that Mother Earth is working with you and Father Spirit is working with you in this. So when it comes to the location of your shelter, there are so many things to consider, you know, and the part about hygiene, when you think about where you're going to be eliminating yourself, urine, feces, okay, and how far away from the water source. So if you think about if you're out in the wilderness and you come to this really beautiful place, it looks like pure water, but you know, ten feet upstream, somebody defecated and uh it's contaminated. So, you know, we oftentimes don't see that, or we don't see, you know, the dead decaying sheep that uh is laying in the creek, you know, uh a hundred yards upstream or more, or something like that. So oftentimes the water appears to be pure, clean, etc., but regardless, it needs to be purified. And you want to be able to make sure that you're not the one that's contaminating the water. You can feel pretty good about yourself if you're going about your hygienic ways that 200 feet away from the water, so that you're not a part of that contamination. Now, also in this location for shelter. You know, the whole thing here, and you gotta remember it's about staying safe and protected from the harsh elements, and harsh elements come at us all day long in all kinds of fashion in this world, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, every day we embark upon our journey of life, there is enough exterior of uh let's call them arrows that are just being shot out in the air, like people with loose mouths, you know, sending out all this drama because they don't contain their words well or they speak horribly of the of others, people who are acting out and bringing harm physically to others, people who are in, you know, this placement of whether it's racism or bullying or whatever it is, you know, it's to take away from another to make them feel better or something, or sometimes even much more sick and wrong than that. So when it comes to staying safe and protected from harsh elements, there's a lot to this. And again, I'm always relating this to our real world, our real-time situations. And, you know, every day you get in your car and you drive somewhere, that's a big risk. It's a bigger risk than flying in a plane, it's a bigger risk than some of the other aspects of our life that we think are scary. But sometimes we don't consider how important our relationships are. And when it comes to relationships, the cooperation, the honor, the respect, the trust, when it comes to being able to set yourself up, to trust yourself, trust your environment, trust the spirit, trust your instincts. It's not about trusting others. It's about trusting yourself enough to know that the sensations that you get are true and real. Then it's not a matter of that you don't trust or that you do trust someone else. You trust yourself enough to know that that person or this situation or this terrain may not be suitable or have your best interest in mind, perhaps. So don't be in a rush in a way. Yes, you've got to get out of the harsh elements fast sometimes, fast. But don't be in such a rush of getting your home, getting your shelter that you bypass some of the most important factors and end up, you know, having a situation that could have been prevented take place, something much, much worse, or something that could take your life because you were not in the position of thoughtfulness due to the fact of allowing yourself to you know kind of cave into fear or worry or you know, somewhat of a poverty or a lack mindset. There's not enough. And oh my gosh, you know, uh, oh, we were qualified for a home. Oh, we better take this. No, no, no, no, no. Find what you want. I promise you, whatever it is that you're looking for, be patient and look for it. Choose your placement well, choose your employment well, choose your mates well. You know, don't just go off on some notion that you think that something is going to be. Do a little study, do a little bit of thoughtfulness around how you're taking your life and how you embark in your relationships, because at one point or another, you're not just going to be alone in that shelter forever. See, we don't want to be alone. We do want to have companionship, we want to be able to have the ability to share our experiences with others. So when it comes to these shelter solutions, it's interesting as well because I was talking about this in the last episode in regards to the types of shelter and homelessness and how we could take a lot of these vacant um lots or lot uh vacant homes, buildings that are throughout this world, and really turn it into a solution. And I got thinking about myself and how easy it is to talk about things and yet to do nothing or think, well, what could I do? Because that is a hard topic in a way to think. Okay, well, what could I do? Because here I was talking about it, but what can I really do about this? What can I do? What can I say? How can I go about doing something? Because I've got a shelter, okay, so I can be thinking about others, if you will. If you've already got your shelter, you can be kind of helping others to get themselves set up. So maybe there's some ideas about how to go about this, but I don't want to be blasting out information anymore that says, hey, let's do this when I'm not really doing anything about it. Again, a great human is not great unless they're great in their own home with the most important relationships on this planet, their their spouses, their their children. And you know what? Every child deserves to have a very loving mother and father that help to curtail the direction of their life with this umbrella of this self-governing autonomy so that we can become effective in life and not be under this umbrella of fear and go about through quickness and not thinking and franticness, create shelters and other decisions in our lives that are going to have holes in them, as Alan said in the last episode about types. You don't want to have those holes in your shelter where you're going to get cold and wet, etc. Take the time. Make sure that you're good. Make sure those around you are good. Don't cheat yourself for those you love. Alright, that's it. Shelter solutions. Always stay protected from the harsh elements.

There we have episode thirty-four to survival essentials. Shelter solutions. Always stay protected from the harsh elements. Section two location. Personally, I love the reminder of remembering my location of where I am in life and how is my location? How are my relationships of where my current location is? Is it good or does it need healing? I'm thankful for Hawk for reminding me of that. If you enjoy this podcast, please remember to share this with your loved ones, family, and friends.
